Hi,
Should I tell Java3D which depth to use or it detect the running depth
on the X Server automaticaly?
I would like to use 16 & 24bit texture!

Do you mean depth (Z-buffer) or do you mean texture format (# bits per texel)? They are independent from each other. When Java 3D uses the term "depth" we mean Z-buffer depth, so setting that to 16 or 24 will only affect the precision of the Z-buffer. In either case, you can use a texture of any format you like.

If you are using SimpleUniverse, Java3D will default to a 16 bit depth I
believe. If you want 24, you will have to create the GraphicsConfiguration
yourself using the GraphicsConfigTemplate3D class.

Note that there have been some reports of video cards incorrectly reporting
their depth. I have seen Nvidia cards report 32 bit and then not function if
you actually try to use 32bit. 24 is usually safe, but 16 is the only one
that is known to work on almost all 3D cards out there today.
