Today's build, 1.3.2-pre8-041001, include fixes for Issue 20 (off-screen rendering on Linux) and Issue 74 (D3D bug in texture combine scale).

NOTE: Java 3D now requires GLX 1.3 in order to compile or run. This simplified the code considerably, so we don't want to add support for pre-GLX-1.3 back in if we don't have to. Please let us know if this causes any problems. With this fix, off-screen rendering should now be fully working on UNIX (Solaris and Linux). The windows changes to use Pbuffer will follow shortly (see Issue 76).

I hope to see PBuffers on windows very soon!

Did you think about an auto-noPbuffers-fallback in case the driver does not support ARB_render_texture and WGL_ARB_PBuffer ?

Cheers,

Mik

Yes, work is in progress on this issue : https://java3d.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=76

We intend to keep the existing fallback if WGL_ARB_pbuffer isn't supported.

I stopped working on the new transparent background feature until the PBuffers are in place but of course I'll go on with it when they will be implemented.
So if you'll remember to ask for an alpha channel when creating the PBuffers you'll make my life easier...

This is one of the changes that you will need to make. Asking for an alpha channel in the default case, when one isn't needed, could cause trade-offs on some systems that we would prefer not to make.
