In the Java3D examples, there is one named ObjLoad. How the .obj format file is created?

For the record, despite the fact its their own format. Maya does a terrible
job of supporting OBJ files (even after version 6, it still doesn't support
MTL data).

HAB's plugin for Max is exceptional, and while he doesn't link to all of
them from his site--he has plugins for every version of MAX under the sun.

Also, Blender does decent OBJ import/export and the price for Blender is
second to none (free at http://www.blender3d.com)

The Wavefront .obj 3d file format is created using professional 3D tools like 3DStudio.
You can also use a converter tool to convert 3DS, VRML, etc files to OBJ format.

No Alessandro.

3ds max itself doesnt create obj files. As you said obj file is Wavefront/Alias format. So Maya can create it.

Obviously you can do it on max using some plugins available out there..

Anyway Alessandro. Are you a brazilian ? If yes, please, contact me at guilherme@auge.com.br or at msn gvpr@hotmail.com.

Thank . I hope it helps!

You are right.
I found several free Max plugins here, but I did not test anyone yet:

thank you.

Alessandro
