[JAVA3D-INTEREST] 2D/3D text

I've been experimenting with Text2D, Text3D to add labels to a 3D chart.
I really only need 2D, but was wondering if there are any advantages
to using Text3D with no depth. What are the tradeoffs in
performance/memory use when creating the labels? If anyone else solved
this problem, what are lessons learned?

Thanks

Text3D => a big polygon w/o texture
Text2D => a very simple polygon with texture.

The Text2D-option should use more RAM (textures are bigger then polygon-data).
But Text3D was buggy in 1.3.0 and creates more polygons (slower).

In the end i went for Text2D, but that was in version 1.3.0. If you don't
worry about old versions go for Text3D.
