I've been experimenting with Text2D, Text3D to add labels to a 3D chart. I really only need 2D, but was wondering if there are any advantages to using Text3D with no depth. What are the tradeoffs in performance/memory use when creating the labels? If anyone else solved this problem, what are lessons learned?
Related: When translating a Text2D object, the translation takes place relative to the lower corner of the bounding box. I'd like to translate relative to the center, that is, center the text at a point. But using the dimensions of the bounding box to adjust the translation vector doesn't give consistent results. Tweaking helps, but there a general way to center 2D text on a point with respect to one axis?
