Hi there...
Can you help me here ?
I got a doubt...
:T

How can I "throw" some kind of ray in any direction looking for any surface wherever it can be.

Because I am trying to implement some kind of "force system"...

Thank you...

Guilherme,

recomendo que você de uma olhada em livros de Geometria Analítica, na sua livraria preferida. Um dica é:

Calculo com Geometria Analítica. L. Leithold, HARBRA;
Geometria Analitica, REIS, Genesio L. dos & SILVA, Valdir V.. LTC

Na internet tem muita coisa mas nem sempre vale a pena... Com livro o apredizado é mais consistente.

ENGLISH: Books sugestion..

Hi wright... I think you hit it! Thank you... I am almost reaching PickTool...

But now, I have a question! How can calculate the direction vector between 2 points...
I mean, I got a coordinate right here (x,y,z) and another coordinate over there(x2, y2, z2)...

Thank you

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but you can create a PickTool from your current scene and set its shape arbitrarily. You could set it to be a ray cast from one point to another (or infinitely in a certain vector) and get back everything it hits with pickAllSorted()

Hope this helps.

HA!!!
Reading your post again, i got another doubt !
what do you mean with:
"create a PickTool from your current scene and set its shape arbitrarily"

You mean that I can set up any SHAPE(including 3d custom models) for a picktool ?

No. Just subclasses of javax.media.j3d.PickShape.

Look at:
com.sun.j3d.utils.picking.PickTool.setShape(PickShape ps, Point3d startPt)
