Quadbuffer stereo looks wrong

I am using quadbuffer stereo on Nvidia QuadroFX cards, however the stereo output looks wrong. The disparity or distance between the left and right images increases with increasing distance instead of decreasing. I have used the setStereoEnable(boolean flag) methodin Canvas3D. I have also try setting the eye positions, the various View settings to no avail.

Furthermore, I have tried to impose view fustrum transforms to skew the right and left images to the correct perspective, but when compatibility mode is set to true, my scene will not render.

Any ideas on what could be the problem? All suggestions are greatly appreciated
