I did not did it before, but try to add the path to jar file in your CLASSPATH and the *.so files in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH

something like:

% export CLASSPATH=$CLASSPATH:.:my_path_to_j3d_jar/vecmath.jar:my_path_to_j3d_jar/j3dcore.jar:my_path_to_j3d_jar/j3dutils.jar

% export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:.:my_path_to_j3d_bin/libj3dcore-ogl.so:my_path_to_j3d_bin/libj3dutils.so

where % is your prompt, and my_path_to_j3d_jar/ and my_path_to_j3d_bin/ is your full path to j3d jar and binary libs.
of course you can add the above lines to your profile.

Alessandro

Ops !!!
the binary filenames were wrong! Fixed now.

% export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:.:my_path_to_j3d_bin/libj3dcore-ogl.so:my_path_to_j3d_bin/libj3dutils.so

There is no need of special bash.
Just copy the *.jar files to $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/ext
and the *.o to $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/i386

I assume you are root and the JAVA_HOME enviroment variable points to your JDK folder.

You are ready to run Java3D ! Get a demo and test it ;)
