Hi all,

I want to use a 3dconnexion space mouse (6DOF input device) in a Java3d application. The support of 3dconnecxion states that they do not support Java3D.

The Device is connected via USB. My environment is Win.

Has anybody done this job already or do I really have to write a C JNI wrapper around the 3dconnexion API, implement a InputDevice in java etc.?

Thanks, Claus

Hi,

I don't think anything exists, and I believe I have about every existing
driver as I need to have these for jrobotics.dev.java.net.
If you send me the doc and the installation CDROM (or just the drivers, the
c interface and the doc) I will write you one.
Yet this might take a couple of weeks.

Cheers,

Silvere.

Hello Silvere,

I found an easy solution to connect the space mouse to java3d: Joerg Plewe's jxinput allows to access a Windows DirectInput device from Java. I did a first test and it looks good. My space mouse is recognized and I can read the correct number of buttons on the mouse.

Nevertheless, thanks for Your offer.

Regards, Claus
