3D mailing list subject line

Hello,

The 'old' Java3D mailing list used to prefix

[JAVA3D]

to the subject line of all 3D email.

Would it be possible to do this again?

It would make it easier to sort my incoming mail.

Thank you,

Ted Hill

The reply-to address on all mails is interest@java3d.dev.java.net
I use that in thunderbird as my filter

Well, imho, mailing list and forum synching is asking for troubles.
Throw one or an other but don't keep both. Your energy is too precious to pass it handling the forum and the list.

(all this imho, of course)

..best choice, IMHO, is unsubscribe from mailing list and read forum only (as I do).

p.s. (if you don't know yet):
if you read forum only, you get all messages from the list and from the forum, because forum and list are crossposted.

This is good advice, and it's what I do, too. The forum tools are quite nice. I would suggest that mailing list members give the forum a try and then decide if they like it:

Forum URL: http://www.javadesktop.org/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=55

Forum FAQ: http://wiki.java.net/bin/view/Javadesktop/Java3DFAQ#SubscribeDiscussionF...

For those who read the interest list as a forum, how big of a problem do you think it would be to restore the [JAVA3D-INTEREST] prefix? This will break the threading for any topic that started out on the forum and then was replied to by someone on the list.

I agree.

We stopped doing this on the new interest list because the list is cross-posted to the forum, and the added prefix it was messing up the threading of messages.

I'm dropping off this list. I may try and visit the various Java 3D
forums but as of now, with the list merge, the traffic has become too
much "spam" (of which I already get hundreds per day).

I'll still be around and I'll still run my Java section of my website
and of course Pernica will continue running.

It's been nice working with all of you on Java 3D. G'luck!

I would insist on it. I need a way to filter this email out of my main
folder or else I would need to unsubscribe from this most useful group.

Hi,

I thought that this was annoying but note that everything is either to or
from interest@java3d.dev.java.net and you can use this for sorting and
automatically sending to your Java3D folder.

BTW having unsubscribed and re-subscribed I am still getting 4 copies of
everything!

Regards

Ted Hill

Unfortunately, my email program will not let me sort/filter on the 'To:'
field. It assumes that all mail I receive is 'to me.'
