We all knew this was coming. As SOA moves up the priorities in the IT groups, new opportunities are appearing for those that have good knowledge of SOA, architecture in general, as well as Web services development. Moreover, companies are reluctant to outsource these jobs, viewing SOAs as "strategic technology layers" they need to keep under tight control.

So, what's going to happen in the next 12-18 months? I believe there will more demand chasing too few candidates, and like software development in 1999, the lack of talent will actually hinder progress to a large extent. Most of the technical types out there just don't get this new approach, nor do many developers. Just not enough time has pasted for this stuff to sink in.
