You can install mustang even if you have JDK 5.0 installed on your machine. Goto this URL

http://download.java.net/jdk6/binaries/

and pick up the self extracting installer (not the RPM). Installation using the binary will not affect your current default JDK/JRE.

I downloaded the self-extracting jar for the Mustang binaries on my Windows XP system... but since XP doesn't have "chmod" I'm not sure what other steps I need to take.

When I attempt to run the "aerith" JNLP (that requires Mustang), it cannot locate the 1.6 JRE.

Any thoughts?

With XP, I had trouble with the beta jar file in that it would not install. So instead I download the 'exe' file. My path includes C:\PROGRAM FILES\JAVA\JDK1.6.0\BIN.

This way, everything works fine from beta version to beta. I just download, run the exe, and try the new beta.
