I just wanted to see if anyone else has installed
Glassfish along side Web app server 8.1 (with
changed admin ports and so on).

We are looking into moving our development over
to glassfish and would like to put it on the
same server as our current 8.1 system.

Pointers to documentation is much appreciated.

Thank you,

J. Haynes

This is indeed possible, and you can also run them simultaneoulsy, assuming there is no port conflicts...

In fact, with a nightly build of NetBeans 5.0 (post beta), I was able to register App Server 8.1, 8.1 UR1, 8.1 UR2, GlassFish builds 20, 22, and 23, in the *same* IDE, without any issue. (For NetBeans 5.0 beta, only 1 app server installation was possible to register tot the ide. This has been fixed, post beta).

It should be possible to install/run glassfish alongwith Sun application server on the same machine.

As you might have noticed, unlike Sun application server, glassfish is installed by running unzip(java)/ant combination. Before running the ant step of the installation, please be sure to edit setup.xml to select ports that are free.

Unfortunately, there is no documentation around this, but please use this forum to report any problems that you run into.

The GlassFish getting started quide https://glassfish.dev.java.net/public/usersGettingStarted.html
does list the default administration values which will tell you where to start. But Abhijit is right, there is no more documentation on this currently so please post.
