Are Web services really made for the Web?
Ted Neward in his recent blog "It's time to do away with this "Web" service thing... long live XML services!" relayed by TheServerSide is in fact telling louder what a majority of people were thinking already.
Web services technology is certainly not only for the Web anymore. But let's understand why Soap application scope has changed since its conception by Microsoft in the late nineties.
Soap original meaning was Simple Object Access Protocol, it was effectively Simple and was capable of transforming existing object interfaces into internet accessible services, Web Services, using the Internet firewall friendly protocol: HTTP.
