Just an idea:

Why isn't is possible to use a JEditorPane as a "Layout-Manager", you could specify class-names in your html-code and JEditorPane loads these classes, creates a new instance (default constructor) and adds it like it already does with JButtons or JTextFields.
It would allow the programmer to layout much faster and also create better looking guis.

The rest of the program would be able to get access to these components using .getComponent("name") - ok you would need some casting but thats it.
Hmm, of course access to the DOM tree would be even more great but this seems to be a dream far away ;-)

PS: Already thought about implementing this but since SWING code is proprietary, hmm, well :-(

Thanks a lot for including this point into the "swing text survey"!

I hope it will be realized soon, I am very happy when Dolphin will arrive.

Dolphin will provide what Mustang should and even more (at least I hope so):
* Stack allocation based on EA
* Better HTML support with custom components (please!)
* A combined client/server JVM
* Maybe a JIT cache?
