I would like to have the endpoint URL a different name than the servlet context but it doesn't seem to work. I've tried all kinds of combinations. I would like to have something like:

http://localhost:8080/services/mapping
http://localhost:8080/services/mapping?wsdl

however, it appears I can only have something like:

http://localhost:8080/services/services
http://localhost:8080/services/services?wsdl

Okay that's working now, sorry I just didn't save the updated web.xml. Thanks!

If you have created services.war, and urlpattern in sun-jaxws.xml is /mapping, you should get that URL. Let me know if you have anyother issues.

I'm creating a services.war, instead of a mapping.war, the urlpattern in sun-jaxws.xml to just /mapping and also updated the web.xml servlet to be pattern to be /services and I get a 404. I can see from the log that the servlet is deployed and when I go to /services I get an empty page (that is correct there is no index.html page or anything there) but I still can't go to:

http://localhost:8080/services/mapping or
http://localhost:8080/services/mapping?wsdl

url-pattern in web.xml should be /mapping.
In sun-jaxws.xml, urlpattern should be /mapping
And the war should be services.war

Let me know if you still have the problem.

Yes, still have the problem. Still get a 404 for either of the two URLs I mentioned before.
