W3C's Voice Browser Working Group has issued an updated version of "Voice Extensible Markup Language (VoiceXML) 2.1" at the CR level, inviting public comment through July 11, 2005. VoiceXML, supporting audio dialogs with synthesized speech, enables integration of voice services with data services using the familiar client-server paradigm. V2.1 defines a set of 8 now widely implemented markup elements, either newly introduced or enhanced from VoiceXML 2.0.
