When one opens a new Window with a textfield in it from an applet, the textfield is not editable and does not respond to any interaction. I have reported this bug to Oracle at

http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7201187

and a similar bug report can be found at

http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7196264

I would like to know if anyone has found a workaround for this. I have thousands of students using Macs that are accessing my applet and this is a core part of its functionality.

Hi all,

This is just one of the problems I found while converting a java application running on an applet. I created the bug 7196264 in Java Bug Parade some months ago.

About workarounds for this have a look in: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12278546/focus-issues-with-java7-moda...

I did not try the workarounds yet so I cannot confirm if really solve the problem.

Hi,
I'm aware of the problem and working on it. Can't suggest any workaround yet, though. I'll post here with a followup when I have more to say.
