I have just finished releasing SwingX 1.6.3 on maven.java.net. It should take a couple of hours to sync to Central. If you are unable to access the new SwingX code by tomorrow on Central, please let me know.
I have uploaded SwingX 1.6.4 into the maven.java.net staging repo. For those that use the swingx-all jars, please confirm that the jar, sources, and javadoc work as expected. If others agree things look right, we'll get this pushed out soon.
Excellent work with this new release; I have been working with 1.6.3-Snapshot for many months now - so an 'official' release is welcome indeed.
One Issue though ...
The swingx-all-1.6.3-sources.jar and swingx-all-1.6.3-javadoc.jar in the maven repository only contain the meta-inf data and no actual source or javadoc files. Now I know I can download all the individual packages - but it is a real inconvenience and I can't believe that this was intended?
you believe correctly :-)
Something went wrong and that something is not yet nailed down. Maybe somemkind soul can help Karl to find it? He's on his own as far as maven-related issues are concerned, me not willing to step into that hell ;-)
is there any way to manually get swingx-all-1.6.3-sources.jar and swingx-all-1.6.3-javadoc.jar? (Meaning the real ones, not the 338B "empty" ones)
If you have them, could you please put them in http://java.net/downloads/swingx/releases/, like you did with swingx-all-1.6.3.jar and swingx-beaninfo-1.6.3.jar?
Thank you :)
sorry, I don't have them (currently don't build locally, just copied what was in maven, if any - did I? can't remember :) - maybe Karl has local jard and can post it to releases?
BTW, off into vacation starting tomorrow - will see you all again in June, take care!
I don't. The sources and javadoc jars are only produced during a release build.
Thank you all for making SwingX so nice and powerful!
One question: will SwingX 1.6.3 binary, javadoc and sources jars be uploaded to http://java.net/downloads/swingx/releases/ and/or http://swinglabs.org/downloads.jsp ?
That would give an awful lot of visibility to this release to developers of non-maven-based projects!
One more thing: I did find swingx-all-1.6.3.jar on maven.java.net, but swingx-all-1.6.3-sources.jar and swingx-all-1.6.3-javadoc.jar appear to be empty (388 bytes, just a MANIFEST inside): will they be packaged and updated sometime soon? Not having javadoc and source can be a showstopper for many who are considering a 1.6.2->1.6.3 upgrade...
oops ... to me it looks like something went wrong in the final deploy. Hopefully Karl-the-maven-wizard can fix it soon :-)
Thanks for the heads up!
may I ask you one quick question about the new "-all" package please?
Is the swingx-beaninfo already packaged into swingx-all, or should I include it as well in order for my Netbeans palette to work?
Thank you in advance!
BeanInfo is never in the main SwingX distribution. You will still need swingx-beaninfo,jar for visual editing.
Thank you very much for the info. I now know one more thing :)
The JavaDoc and source jar for the non-all distributions are working, so that's good. Must be something in how the rollup of the jar files works....
I will look into it.
I am having a hard time locating 1.6.3-sources and javadoc. Can you please direct me to the right place to download them, so that I can use 1.6.3 in my project?
Not available as jars and a known issue ;-)
Thanks for your patience
Has there been any progress on this? SwingX looks like precisely the tool kit I need for a project, but lack of a working JavaDoc jar really cools my jets.
the plan is to throw out a 1.6.4 rather soon, containing not overly many changes (more than fixing the rollout products and another showstopper fix ;-)
Is there an ETA? I don't need it down to the second, but I'd like to know if I'm looking at a release "within a week or two" or longer
Many thanks! This library looks perfect for me!
Glad you like our baby :-)
As to the ETA - cough, cough .. not strong on formalities. Not sure how far Karl is with the rollout fix, so waiting for his comment.
did you have a chance to look into it?
I'm so looking forward to migrating my projects to 1.6.3 :)
Thank you Karl, I'm looking forward to downloading them and migrating my projects to SwingX 1.6.3!
forgot: did you/do you intend to blog about the release? Some words on what's new/deleted/improved and the maven stuff would be great.
I do, just didn't have time yesterday. Hope to get that up today.
Thanks for great job (after the Long Journey :-)
