I was looking for a ProgressListener implementation recently and noticed that SwingX 0.8 had one; however, when I looked for it in the latest release, it seems to have disappeared from the event package and the JXStatusBar doesn't seem to implement it. I noticed that sun.net has an implementation, which leads me to believe that at some point it may find its way into the JDK. What are the current plans for the ProgressListener in SwingX?

ProgressListener was removed. It is still in the SwingX codebase in the unused section, but is not packaged with any release. I actually recommend using a mediator as opposed to an observer for this type of work. I am particularly fond of EventBus for that style of work.

Any particular EventBus implementation? Are there plans to include an EventBus in SwingX?

If was referring to https://eventbus.dev.java.net/ which pays particular attention to Swing threading models.
There are no plans to add an event bus to SwingX.
