Hi all,

I'd like to use some animation effects in my desktop app. For example, I have a toolbar JToggleButton which hides/shows a JPanel. It would be really awesome if the JPanel were to fly in from the right, and disappear in a similar fashion. Is that possible with SwingX?

I found a series of tutorials on animation with SwingX here

http://www.pushing-pixels.org/2007/07/08/advanced-animations-on-core-swi...

but none of the videos are working for me.

Regards, Sam

That's possible in core Swing. However, neither Swing nor SwingX provide any anitmated features in that way, except for SwingX's JXCollapsiblePane. Review that first to see if it handles your use cases. If not, you can inspect the code to to something similar for yourself.

JXCollapsiblePane sounds like what I want, but it currently doesn't integrate with Netbeans GUI Editor so I'm shelving it for now.

None of us here use NetBeans, let alone any GUI building software. Bugs in that area are not likely to be fixed without research and support from users like yourself.
