Using @ notation for attributes in JSON

Using Jersey for JAX-RS. When calling a WS and using @attr-name in JSON, the attribute is not being parsed and filled in.

We are running a standard, out of the box implementation.

What do I have to do to get Jersey to correctly use @ to identify attributes ?
