What’s new in this release?

The new version of Aspose.BarCode for Java 5.4.0 has been released. We are glad to state that from this version you can recognize MicroPDF417 2D barcodes and support ECC for 2D barcodes to generate/recognize. This release also includes the most recent bug fixes like EAN8 barcode image recognition. UPCA barcode is recognized, recognize DataMatrix barcode from pdf file, Chinese characters recognition with Pdf417, Extra barcode recognition and performance improved, custom barcode width, Code39 barcode image recognition and many more. Below is the list of main new and improved features added in this release.

The 2D barcodes, as noted, can code a lot more information. The downside is that they're not as easy to read. 1D barcodes can be read with a light source (laser or LED) and a single detector, and many barcode readers don't have much more than that. 2-D code readers have to be cameras, usually CCDs. And they need enough intelligence to be able to internally rotate and interpret the image. The last company I worked for specialized in the hardware and software of machine vision for precisely these applications. Naturally, they were gung-ho for these new 2D codes.
The new released version seems to be an expert working with 2D barcodes. But I used to work with another Barcode SDK. They are all experts dealing with barcodes, I think.
