We are using Sun Java System Application Server 9.1_02 (build b04-fcs). Currently our server uses JDK1.5. To upgrade the JDK version we tried two options:

a. download the jdk1.7 and linked /opt/SUNWappserver/jdk folder to the jdk1.7 folder.

b. edited domain.xml and changed all occurances of javaRoot to /opt/SUNWappserver/jdk1.7.

While both option work, which would be the right thing to do?

The file
--glassfish installation--/config/asenv.conf

configures various properties, one named AS_JAVA determines the location of the JDK

In my case this is:

/usr/java is a symbolic link

ls -l /usr/java
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15 Jun 14 2011 /usr/java -> /usr/jdk/jdk1.6

Thanks Vincewebb.

That was what we did. Good to get the confirmation.

Thanks again.
