Hi,

I was successfully able to install glassfish and use the PAM module on Debian, but the requirement to run the whole appserver as root makes my system/network administrators uncomfortable... Is there a plan for removing this, and allowing glassfish as normal user? Is there something I can do (permissionwise) so that I can have PAM running as normal user with this release?

Thanks!
Gabriele

To access the PAM module in Unix, the user has to belong to the group that can access the /etc/groups or similar file that contains the passwords. The root user has permissions by default. Another way is to add the user that runs glassfish to the group that can access the /etc/groups file.
