The Java Embedded Challenges for Raspberry Pi are collaborative and learning ventures with Java embedded technologies and the Raspberry Pi. Java developers with little or no experience in Java Embedded build applications within days. Equipment, training, and one-on-one mentors are available onsite to ensure the success of team projects.

Speakers and Mentors

Vinicius Senger. Vinicius Senger is the co-founder of Globalcode, a training company delivering Java courses including Java Embedded courses and hands-on labs. He is an engineer by training and has a passion for embedded systems. For this series of challenges, he created an embedded panel and a robot with Arduino, Beagle, and different sensors. All of them are accessible remotely via a web server.
Yara Senger. Globalcode co-founder and director, Java Champion and one of the leaders of SouJava as well as a coach in embedded development.
Geert Bevin. Java Champions and long time developer for open source projects (Gentoo Linus, RIFE, Terracotta, Ehcache, Open Laszlo, Juce to name a few.
Bruno Borges. Bruno Borges Oracle Fusion Middleware Principal Product Manager for WebLogic, GlassFish, Coherence, JDeveloper and ADF, NetBeans, and part of the Java stack: Java SE, JavaFX and Java EE.

Java Embedded Challenge Raspberry Pi at J1 2013
The projects included a heart monitor using Google Glass, radio controlled car over the internet, home automation applications, remote control of devices, a load balancing cloud application, and a sobriety field tester. All the projects were created using Java Embedded and Raspberry Pi.
