GlassFish

Meanwhile I am looking back to more than 25 years of programming, and more than a decade I spent in a very sensible area where quality (in the sense of zero failures) plays a big role. So call me "sensible" for quality. For long years "we" (i. e. developers) had hard work to do using simple command lines tools like vi etc., but meanwhile there are great, even free,...

GlassFish users who make use of CLIENT-CERT authentication with SSL  in their JavaEE applications  should consider upgrading to JDK1.6.0_22. The good news is that JDK1.6.0_22 contains a full fix for  the renegotiation protocol flaw in SSL (The IETF issued RFC 5746 ).  A fix which implements RFC 5746 and supports secure renegotiation. More details are...

One of the exciting things about teaching is the fact no matter how well you prepare for a class, events will always surprise you.Yesterday I was caught by surprise in the middle of a class by what seemed like a global Glassfish admin console outage. I was teaching my Software Architecture students at IGTI how to change the default maximum thread pool size for the HTTP listener in Glassfish 3.0.1...

In my last blog entry, I described VideoSharing which is an application that uses Web sockets to remote UI events and enable participants to control HTML5 video players remotely. Today, I'd like to share with you a similar type of collaboration application, but this time one that uses other HTML5 features: namely, 2D canvases and client SQL databases. The name of this application is...

It's been several months since my last blog! I have recently re-joined the Glassfish team at Oracle and I'm currently looking at Web tier technologies like Web sockets and HTML5. In this blog, I'd like to show you a simple Web application in which you can control an HTML5 video object remotely. The basic idea is to intercept video events like 'play', 'pause' and 'seeked' and remote them using Web...

I had originally planned to write a blog post per day during JavaOne 2010. That being my first JavaOne I was of course completely unprepared for the hectic routine of sessions, meetings, parties and more sessions. I wrote blog posts in the first two days and disappeared ever since. I am alive, well, and back to Brazil. I had a terrific time in San Francisco where I got to meet a lot of...
