Migration Issue: WebLogic application server supports sharing of utility classes in an ear file. The shared utility classes can be packaged in one of two directories : APP-INF/lib : shared jar files can be placed here. APP-INF/classes : individual classes can be placed here. The problem is that APP-INF is proprietary to WebLogic and non portable. Migration Path to...

If you are behind a proxy maybe you will want to set the proxy in Glassfish. There are few different ways to do that. #1 - You could use the admin web page. You can add the proxy settings : host and port with the admin. Into the admin web page, go to the Application Server at your left. After that on your right select : JVM Settings / JVM Options. Just add theses settings : http.proxyHost=...

The GlassFish Boot Camp conducted in Sun's Santa Clara Campus on Mar 10, 2009 was well appreciated by the attendees. There were 30 of them engaged with 14 speakers over 8 hours in 7 fast-paced sessions - overall a great recipe for the boot camp. Many thanks to all the attendees and speakers for making it useful! All the slides from the sessions are available here. The attendees certainly had...

Involver.com is an online video marketing platform that allows brands to build, promote, manage, and track video campaigns on social networks for targeted audiences. The platform is powered by Ruby-on-Rails, JRuby 1.1.6, and GlassFish v2 UR2. Why not "pack of mongrels" ? this deployment strategy wasn't an efficient use of resources, both human and machine. So we started to look at...

TOTD #70 shows the first integration integration tests that I typically run to ensure that the latest JRuby and GlassFish versions work nicely with each other.  The second test (explained in this blog) ensures that the same application can be deployed using GlassFish v3 Prelude. GlassFish v3 Prelude allows Rails applications to be deployed natively, i.e. without any packaging....

JRuby 1.2.0 RC1 is out for a while! I typically run a series of tests to ensure that any publicly released version of JRuby works nicely with GlassFish. The main goal of running these tests is to discover any blocking bugs before users do. This particular set of tests are being run little late as RC1 was released on Feb 24th. But I'll describe all the steps clearly in the next few blog entries...

This is a follow-up to the blog "Developing SGMP Connectors using JAX-RS" where I focus on how to deploy an SGMP connector developed using JAX-RS. Once again, rather than bore you with words, I will attempt to entertain you with a screencast. The screencast will show you how to build your connector using Netbeans and how to deploy and configure your connector using the GlassFish admin console....
