Michael Van Geertruy

Mike Van Geertruy is the co-founder of FESI (also call FossESI), the Free and open source software Enterprise Solutions Institute. Mike and his group of like-minded merry men and women study new and cutting edge open source technologies, and thier impact on existing enterprise systems.

FESI performs research by learning technologies, and then implementing them in realistic scenarios.  This group is starting with a short study of Camel and Felix, first doing the tutorials, and then discussing thier implementation over existing monolithic applications.  Once done with this small appetizer they will move to the main course, the study of Cassandra, a truly next generation nosql database.  They will study Cassandra, and attempt to replace a simple Oracle database (with some bells and whistles) with Cassandra while ensuring all the front-end web and web applications are still usable.  You are invited to laugh and learn with us as we take on these endeavors.
