Painful editing experience with forums

I've just joined java.net and tried to sumbit a question in the forums - the formatting options for posting are incredibly painful to use:

  • it took me quite some time to carefully format the text and surround content with pertinent tags, then when I submit it seems all formating is ignored and the post is just displayed as plain text on the forum.
  • there is no preview to see how the final reult should look.
  • clicking on "More information about formatting" took me to another page and helpfully cancelled all my painstakingly inputted post.
  • all sorts of weirdness when I paste text from other sources, especially links.

The C&P might not be fixable, as a lot of that "weirdness" is in place to control spam.  Hopefully we can at least see improvements on all the rest.

Yah, we PLEASE disable the Microsoft Word like editor? Much like Microsoft Word, it's a pile of shit.
