Hi All,

I am looking into IT 532 (DvrManager orphan recording support is incomplete). There are 2 ways of dealing with the orphan recordings is mentioned in this Issue Tracker.

  1. creating default RecordingRequests to make the orphans app-visible (allowing an app to disposition them as it pleases and to have them reclaimed to save space) - What the application is going to do with this orphan recording? Is it just going to delete the recording whenever the space is needed or anything else?
  2. simply deleting the orphans to prevent them from consuming unreclaimable space. - Craig Pratt mentioned that 'can be supported by setting OCAP.dvr.recording.leaveOrphans=false'. But for this RI should be in default recording management mode.

If the RI is not in default recording management mode, then we are having reference to these orphan recording list. Why we need to keep the orphan recordings. Why can't we just delete them? Please answer my question.

Yes, I think I've convinced myself that it's preferable for the RI to delete orphan recordings by default (via OCAP.dvr.recording.leaveOrphans=true)
I'll commit this change to the RI trunk.
