Java.net Future Enhancements

Below is a list of enhancements planned for Java.net. See the sprints at the right for enhancements teed up for implementation during the next couple of months. Feel free to comment on and rate these enhancements to help us prioritize. Have an idea for enhancing Java.net? Add it to the list (must be logged in).

Send community-related content to communities

When someone uses the "Submit Content" page

http://www.java.net/submit-content

and selects "Projects & Communities" and a specific Community for the suggested
destination, their request comes only to the editor, but does not go to anyone
in the identified community.

Content submissions that specify a specific community should also be emailed to
the community leader for that community

Show blogger picture on homepage

In the old CMS, when a weblog item was promoted to the community web page, we
could choose to show the blogger picture with the news. This made the community
page more interesting. Unfortunately, this feature is not available anymore.

This is a request to implement this again.

Include Blog comments in email notification

Blog comment email alerts do not include the text of the comment - instead, they
include the text of the post, which is something we should already know. This enhancement is to remove the post content and include the comment content.

Create more options for formatting of news postings on individual community pages.

Move the JUG map to the CMS - enable easier addition to the map.

Ability to attach an image permanently to a blog entry

With regards to the news feeds, aka "homepage items": Once an image is uploaded for a news or blog item entry, i'd like it to be persistent and "attached" to the blogger so that next time I want to promote an item from the same person, I don't have to dig up the image and re-upload it.

Add comments to google analytics

This enhancement is to alter the google analytics code to capture comments on items (blogs, articles, etc).

enable automated approval of projects

this enhancement request is to determine the feasibility (and implement) capability to allow projects to be automatically "approved" on the project space. This will enable new project owners to invite other members immediately, without waiting for approval.

Enable Blog Homepage Tailoring

Enable bloggers to be able to customize their blog main pages. Bloggers are welcome to provide more detail here.

Chat for Java.net

This request is to have per-project chat on Java.net. The issue referenced above shows the history of this request. Please comment on possible approaches and vote for its applicability. Fyi the CMS layer of Java.net is now built in Drupal and each project has its own homepage on the CMS, which might be useful in implementation. Thanks!
