Java.net Future EnhancementsBelow is a list of enhancements planned for Java.net. See the sprints at the right for enhancements teed up for implementation during the next couple of months. Feel free to comment on and rate these enhancements to help us prioritize. If you have ideas for enhancements please post them on the Wish List Forum or directly into the issue tracker in the Java-net Project (you must be logged in for both of these options). enable automated approval of projectsthis enhancement request is to determine the feasibility (and implement) capability to allow projects to be automatically "approved" on the project space. This will enable new project owners to invite other members immediately, without waiting for approval.
Chat for Java.netThis request is to have per-project chat on Java.net. The issue referenced above shows the history of this request. Please comment on possible approaches and vote for its applicability. Fyi the CMS layer of Java.net is now built in Drupal and each project has its own homepage on the CMS, which might be useful in implementation. Thanks!
add multiple language capability to project pagesThis enhancement is to add capability to translate project body content to other languages.
Add comments to google analyticsThis enhancement is to alter the google analytics code to capture comments on items (blogs, articles, etc).
Ability to attach an image permanently to a blog entryWith regards to the news feeds, aka "homepage items":
Once an image is uploaded for a news or blog item entry, i'd like it to be
persistent and "attached" to the blogger so that next time I want to promote an
item from the same person, I don't have to dig up the image and re-upload it.
Include Blog comments in email notificationBlog comment email alerts do not include the text of the comment - instead, they
include the text of the post, which is something we should already know. This enhancement is to remove the post content and include the comment content.
Move JUGS Map to the CMSMove the JUG map to the CMS - enable easier addition to the map.
Show blogger picture on homepageIn the old CMS, when a weblog item was promoted to the community web page, we
could choose to show the blogger picture with the news. This made the community
page more interesting. Unfortunately, this feature is not available anymore.
This is a request to implement this again.
Create role-based access to JEDI contentCreate functionality within the JEDI project to enable role-based access to documentation.
Send community-related content to communitiesWhen someone uses the "Submit Content" page
http://www.java.net/submit-content
and selects "Projects & Communities" and a specific Community for the suggested
destination, their request comes only to the editor, but does not go to anyone
in the identified community.
Content submissions that specify a specific community should also be emailed to
the community leader for that community
Create more formatting options for community newsCreate more options for formatting of news postings on individual community pages.
