The same argument could be made about Microsoft and Windows. The only difference is that in the past Apple was willing to take on this responsibility. Since they seem to drop the ball with every single Java release, though, perhaps they're not really capable or willing.
I think it undermines Sun and Java more than Apple when Apple doesn't have a release of Java ready for the better part of a year after its release on other platforms-- therefore it's in Sun's interest to do the release themselves. |
