I've used properties in Delphi. They're syntactic sugar only. Noone missed them when they weren't there and all they did was make the syntax of the language harder to understand for human readers. For the vast majority of users they're useless because they never work in the very limited scenario of creating components that need to be included in a visual GUI editor, for the few that might profit from them they're useless because those people are (or should be) highly experienced and proficient programmers already that don't need a dumbed down sugarcoated syntax to be able to do their job efficiently and proficiently. |
