Nice article. Having been involved with every attempt at creating a standard for Web Services transactions, including BTP, I can definitely say that it is dead. In some ways it is a shame (I was also responsible for the world's first BTP implementation, HP-WST, from Hewlett-Packard), but inevitable given technical and political issues. There are many articles around concerning this issue, but Eric probably sums it up well.
All of the Web Services transactions standards have been supported (often first) using the Hewlett-Packard Transaction Service, aka the Arjuna Transaction Service, aka the JBoss Transaction Service. You may want to check it out if you're looking to move away from BTP (or even if you want to continue supporting BTP, but with cohesion support too). |
