Imagine a world where everybody could participate easily in a distributed yet secure Social Web. In such a world every one will be able to control their own information, and every business would be able to enter into a conversation with customers, researchers, government agencies and partners as easily as they can now start a conversation with someone on Facebook. What is needed to go in the direction of The Internet of Subjects Manifesto? What existing technologies can we build on? What is missing? What could the W3C contribute? What could others do? To participate in the discussion and meet other people with similar interests, and withness some actual implementations of this, visit the Santa Clara Social Web Camp wiki

This is the first JavaOne for JUG-USA and we are holding our first national JUG-USA Summit on Tuesday night in conjunction with the Java Community Process (JCP) Party. JUG-USA also won the JUG Registration contest for this JavaOne. As a result, JUG-USA members attending the conference will have a special meeting with James Gosling on Wednesday. See the full blog post for further information and links to these JUG-USA event details.

The opportunities afforded by affiliating together all the JUGs residing in the United States as part of an umbrella JUG-USA organization seem self-evident to me. In my efforts to bring JUGs around the country on board, I am learning that this is simply not the case. So, please read the full blog entry for my thoughts on this matter.
